Without a doubt, this is a tremendously historic and exciting day for our nation. As Americans we all have cause to celebrate our country’s progress. Those of us who work in health care, I think, finally have reason to look forward to some progress in our industry as well.
With the new administration officially in office, I think the next few months are going to be very eventful for health care and health IT. In recent weeks we’ve learned that health care reform ranks rather highly on President Obama’s agenda. He even mentioned it in his inauguration speech today. We’ve also gotten some clues recently about how his administration plans to use technology as a means to advance change. I think IT is going to play a major role in reform initiatives. We already know that the president is very pro-technology in other areas, so it’s perfectly logical that he would recognize its potential to bring sustainable change to health care.
Rest assured that, as things develop over the coming weeks and months, I will blog my thoughts about any worthwhile topics (and I suspect there will be quite a few). Check back often and feel free to share your comments.
