WAYNE, PA -- JANUARY 24, 2012 -- MEDecision, the leading
provider of collaborative health management solutions, has again
achieved full pass certification for its interoperability tests
with other healthcare IT systems at the 2012 Integrating the
Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) North American Connectathon, held
January 9-13 in Chicago.
IHE is an initiative by healthcare professionals to improve the
way computer systems in healthcare share information. Systems
developed in accordance with IHE communicate with one another
better, are easier to implement, and enable healthcare
professionals to use information more effectively - creating
efficiencies that help drive down healthcare costs while improving
the quality of care.
Interoperability between disparate medical information systems
remains one of the biggest challenges to the exchange of health
information and clinical documentation between health plans,
hospitals, physicians and other clinicians. The Connectathon is
widely recognized as the industry's premier interoperability
testing event. MEDecision again achieved full pass interoperability
certification for its Health Information Exchange (HIE) solution,
Nexalign, at this year's IHE Connectathon.
"Removing proprietary, costly and time-consuming barriers to
integration through proven interoperability is a key component of
MEDecision's overall strategy to help healthcare organizations
reach the highest level for business and practice transformation,"
said Carole Hodsdon, chief operating officer, MEDecision,
said. "We have pioneered the way in which health plans manage
health information - connecting data, gaining knowledge from
analytics, utilizing consumer-centric workflow - now we will
do the same for health systems and physician practices."
The MEDecision team converged in Chicago at this year's
Connectathon for an intense week-long testing schedule with one
united cause: to advance the interoperable exchange of
healthcare information. Certification was obtained for
multiple integration profiles, actors and options, including:
- HPD - Healthcare Provider Directory
- XDR - Cross-enterprise Reliable Document
Interchange
- XUA - Cross-enterprise User Assertion
- ATNA - Audit Trail / Node Authentication
Security
- CT - Consistent Time Services

Hodsdon continued, "The fact that MEDecision continues to test
successfully - achieving full pass certification again this year --
underscores the capability and readiness of MEDecision's data
exchange. Even with increasing levels of complexity, our team was
able to prove our solution's ability to connect flawlessly."
MEDecision's health information exchange solution combines a set
of enabling technologies - including decision support, analytics,
health information exchange and identity reconciliation - designed
to gather health data from multiple sources (healthcare payers,
consumers, physicians and other care delivery organizations) and
apply analytics to foster better business and clinical decisions on
a patient's behalf.
