Population Health Issues and Opportunities: Spotlighting High Blood Pressure

Impacting nearly half of all adults in the U.S., more than 100 million Americans have high blood pressure, according to recent estimates from the American Heart Association. In addition to high costs of care, consequences of inadequate treatment include risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke, renal failure and early death. Health system teams committed to improving population health must better prioritize their efforts to address these challenges head-on and take a tailored approach to improve outcomes in their communities.
